Oasis - Wonderwall
Written by Noel Gallagher in 1995, the meaning of "Wonderwall" became one big misunderstanding. When the press assumed it was written for Gallagher's then-girlfriend, Meg Mathews, he could only admit this. However, after Gallagher divorced Mathews, he told a very different story: "The true story of "Wonderwall" was taken away from me by the media, and how do you tell your future wife it's not about her once she's read it is? In fact it's a song about an imaginary friend who's gonna come and save you from yourself"

Initially Noel wanted to sing this song himself, but he gave his brother Liam the choice and he wanted to sing the song also, and so Noel ended up singing "Don't Look Back In Anger."
At live shows Noel plays this on a Fender Telecaster instead of the Gibson guitar he normally uses.
The single's sleeve artwork was inspired by the Belgian surrealist painter René Magritte. The hand holding the frame is that of art director Brian Cannon. The original idea was to have Liam in the frame, but Noel wanted very last minute a female figure. (the shoot was taking place when he came up with this) And so Anita Heryet, a Creation Records employee, was asked to stand in as cover star.
